OOA instructs OSBA to conduct election again

Taking a firm step, Orissa Olympics Association (OOA) has declared the last election of Orissa State Badminton Association (OSBA) illegal and instructed the latter to conduct the same again on October 24, 2010 with a revised member list.

The decision for a fresh election was taken at a meeting, involving senior OOA secretary Asirbad Behera, OSBA secretary Iqbal Rahaman and senior OSBA member Binod Dash. The last election (September 14, 2008) was declared illegal as it was conducted in an undemocratic manner. Out of nine district members and one observer each from the State Directorate of Sports and Orissa Olympic Association, who participated in the last annual general meeting, eight walked out, alleging irregularities in the election procedure.

Allegations of irregularities included: not amending the constitution, non-submission of statement of expenditure and illegally disqualifying representative of Puri District Badminton Association.
